1. BUY SOMETHING NEW
One very powerful psychological technique that I will be using is called the law of concentrated effort. Basically, it means that if there is something in life that you really want, and then behave in a way that you already have it – you are very likely to actually get it. wiki
So…..go out at your earliest opportunity and purchase an item of clothing that feels ‘snug’ just a little tight. It should be something that is ‘new’ to you…..either from a store or a thrift shop. It has to be something new to you and NOT something you already have from your past that no longer fits. It does not have to be anything expensive.directory
Once you have bought this ‘new’ item of clothing, hang it on a closet door so that it can be seen by you daily.
2. LISTEN TO THE CD/MP3 RECORDING
It is absolutely essential that you listen to the recording at least once per day (more if you can) for the next 28 days or more. For best results….listen to the recording before your evening meal. The recording will create new neural pathways in your brain relating to your associations and attitudes towards food. It will also reinforce the live sessions that you attend.

You will increase the effect ten fold if you listen to it using stereo headphones via your iPod, phone or a CD walkman.
IMPORTANT! – NEVER USE THE RECORDING WHILST DRIVING OR OPERATING MACHINERY.
3. EAT SLOWLY AND CONSCIOUSLY
You will enjoy eating three small meals from a smaller plate, each day. Enjoy every mouthful of food, but slow you’re eating down; chew your food thoroughly (approx 15-20 times a mouthful). Put your knife and fork down between mouthfuls; breathe between mouthfuls; take a sip of water; put down your sandwich between mouthfuls. article

5. EAT ONLY THREE SMALL MEALS A DAY

- DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS AND CHOOSE ONLY LOW CALORIE LIQUIDS.
Keep yourself well hydrated. *Note: Cut down on alcohol, the days you choose to drink NO alcohol are the days you will lose more weight. Remember…. Alcohol contains calories!
7. EXERCISE
It is a very important element of the virtual gastric band that you take some form of exercise, for at least 30 minutes each day. This can be as simple as going for a walk. As you will be eating less than your body needs to function, it has to make up the difference by burning reserves. If you do not exercise daily, your body will metabolize your unused muscle and you will lose muscle mass and strength. Walk…..skip…..and dance around the house….you choose, but MOVE!!
If you have diabetes, monitor your blood sugar levels carefully. You may need to adjust insulin or other diabetes medication.
8. DEALING WITH HEAD HUNGER
Head hunger refers to a condition whereby you THINK you need food but your body is not actually the one demanding energy. Something else is triggering you to require food. It can be a conditioned response to a certain situation or a certain time of day. Remember, head hunger comes on quickly and REAL hunger comes on slowly and over time.
Ways to deal with head hunger
- Take a drink of water
- Wait it out (about 10 minutes)
- Exercise – Walk, stretch etc..
- Concentrate on deep slow breathing
- Tell yourself this feeling will pass
- Eat a tiny bit of something nutritious
Find something else to do….read/housework/listen to CD etc. IT WILL PASS!
GIVE YOURSELF SUPPORT
It is important to recognize as you go through this program and the changes demanded by the Virtual Gastric Band, that you will frequently have to be your own support. To do so requires some ownership of the process. In other words, make this YOUR weight loss program; take pride in what you are doing and revel in each goal achieved.
