Blending medical hypnosis and acupuncture

Hypno-acupuncture is a new and effective form of therapy which can help tackle bad habits, pain relief, anxiety and relieve health issues.

I am a clinical hypnotherapist, who has been trained as an acupuncture therapist for a decade. The fascinating question as to whether these two modalities can be combined effectively has always interested me. So, over the past two years, I have been researching this subject and experimenting with certain clients who were keen to participate in my research.

The needles are often inserted into both hands and both feet and the crown of our heads. Then the hypnotic induction is performed. To my amazement when this was first performed, the client felt like their body disappeared! Later we did a similar technique but with the acupuncture needles on just one half the body. This time the client felt ‘half’ of their body melt away.

Acupuncture and Hypnosis—Is the Whole More Than the Sum of Its Parts?

Yes, it appears so. They seem to multiply each other! I have been very impressed with the results I have achieved with hypno-acupuncture and the scientific evidence so far backs this up. How does it work?

I have noticed for many years that many of my acupuncture clients become very relaxed during the process and often a little ‘spaced out’ post treatment…sometimes even a sense of euphoria. They apparently have gone into a mini-trance. This is exactly were we want our hypnosis clients to go. The acupuncture assists the client into trance. What is impressive, is that they have no resistance to it, as it feels totally natural. https://starthypnosis.co.uk/contact/

A person may not be a good hypnotic subject, but a great acupuncture subject and visa versa. What this means, is we double the chance of getting the person into hypnosis/trance…and if they are a great hypnotic subject and a great acupuncture subject, they will go very deep indeed, possibly experiencing life changing phenomena.

Another interesting point as to how this new treatment works so well is due to the ‘confusional’ aspect of acupuncture. Needles are known to be sharp and able to draw blood. Most peoples previous experience with needles is not a particularly pleasant one. Therefore, when I insert the super fine needles and you feel no pain, but instead start to feel relaxed…this is slightly baffling, a confusion is taking place. Hypnosis loves confusion, as it throws the conscious mind off the scent and allows access to the wonderful childlike unconscious mind. This confusion is a convincer (another aspect hypnotherapy loves) …a convincer that something different, something possibly extraordinary is taking place…something the conscious mind can not figure out. Thus, the conscious mind moves out of the way, allowing access to the unconscious mind. https://starthypnosis.co.uk/

What is hypno-acupuncture best used for?

One hypno-acupuncture session is even more effective than two sessions of: 1 separate hypnotherapy session + 1 separate acupuncture session. I have used this new exciting treatment type for many different issues;

Stop smoking, weight loss, anxiety, pain relief, migraines, tinnitus…the list goes on.

Combining the two therapies into one concentrates and intensifies the results that you’d get from one alone. If you are interested in giving this wonderful therapy a go, please feel free to call me or you can book an appointment directly on my website. I’d be delighted to hear from you today!
