Hypnotherapy proven to work on addictions
Hypnotherapy for addictions now has numerous scientific studies, categorically proving, that hypnosis can have dramatic effects in reversing most people’s addictions.
Hypnotherapy is very effective for helping with all types of addictions. I offer therapy/counselling alongside the hypnosis treatment, if required, or we can just concentrate on using hypnotherapy to fully resolve your problems.
I have helped in a rehabilitation center (OK Rehab, see below link) and occasionally used acupuncture alongside hypnotherapy.
With hypnotherapy, to resolve addictions, we can remove the unconscious programs that keep you locked in the destructive cycle.
HERE IS THE 3-STEP FORMULA FOR SUCCESS
- Inner peace- Deprograming. Letting go of all the limited decisions and negative beliefs you hold about yourself. To the point where you can grateful to all that has ever happened.
- Outer Power- Reprogramming. Changing your perceptions, expectations and patterns of thought and speech.
- Purpose- Finding the meaning to your life. Gaining a sense of connection…sense of oneness. Developing unconditional love for all things.

Achieving these 3-steps is different for everybody. Not every client needs to attain all three. They serve as a direction a goalpost to aim for. It is along this journey that the addiction issues disappear.
Information and experience from addiction centers and websites suggest hypnosis – with or without, drug counseling, rehab, a 12 Step-Program, psychology – to be an effective method to help overcome dependence to various drugs such as: COCAINE, MARIJUANA, GHB, HEROIN, METHADONE, ECSTASY, “K” (Ketamine hydrochloride, special K), SLEEPING PILLS, DIET PILLS, BARBITURATES, CRACK, STEROIDS, LSD & SPEED (amphetamines).

Memories are fluid. Every time you access a memory you alter it, in some way. In hypnosis we use this phenomenon to your advantage, so that the memory is changed and no longer has the negative emotion attached to it.
There is an inspirational Ted Talk by Brene Brown. It looks at the data surrounding ‘vulnerability’ and living ‘whole heartedly.’ What she discovered was that those who are amongst the happiest in this world live whole heartedly and embrace vulnerability. What the data also clearly demonstrated was that we as a modern western society, actually numb vulnerability. As soon as we start to feel this uncomfortable emotion, we block it out. With our addictions. With alcohol, social media, gambling, food, smoking, cocaine, sex, work, pills, prescription drugs etc. My addiction was with prescription medication. It’s wonderful to be free now. And I want to show others how to free themselves too. Brene Brown Ted Talk
INSPIRING BOOKS
There’s a great inspiring book by Jack Trimpey called Rational Recovery. AVRT He went to Alcoholics Anonymous for many years. It never worked long tern for him, like 90% of people. What Jack discovered was that there’s a ‘part’ of us running the addiction. As a hypnotherapist I know all about parts therapy very well. The unconscious mind is made up of many different parts. A part that drives the car, a part that chooses what to eat, a part that is a son, brother, friend, worker. Etc. Jack discovered a way to manage this chaotic part.

First recognizing that there is this part. Jack calls this ‘Addictive voice recognition technique (AVRT). Understanding it is only offering ‘suggestions’, not orders. This part can also make you think and feel. Once my clients fully understand this behavior, (they are not going crazy), the burst out of the addiction bubble. An epiphany is in the post!
Hypnosis for alcohol addiction
Alcoholism is arguably the most widespread addiction thanks in part to the cultural acceptance of alcohol over the centuries. While alcohol is arguably not as addictive in nature as prescription drugs or harder forms of narcotics, the fact that it is far more widespread in our culture is why so many people become alcoholics.
Hypnosis for alcohol addiction starts by addressing the root causes of the addiction and is assisted by the appropriate medical treatment as well. In other words, abruptly stopping the consumption of alcohol may have a devastating effect on the body depending on the level of addiction. Hypnotherapy works in combination with other treatments to ease the withdrawal symptoms and establish in the mind the rejection of alcohol consumption.
Alcoholism is a very pervasive addiction and the widespread availability and social acceptance makes it very difficult even with the use of hypnosis to overcome initially, but repeated treatments along with the proper support can be very effective in removing the temptation that alcoholism presents.
Hypnosis for drug addiction
Although arguably not as widespread as alcoholism, drug addiction is more insidious and in many ways a deeper addiction with root causes that can be difficult to overcome. Hypnosis for drug addiction often works in concert with other treatments to remove the physical addiction and ease the withdrawal symptoms so that the suggestions delivered to the mind are most effective.
The induction of relaxation through hypnosis allows the patient to better combat the addiction that they are undergoing. As with treating alcohol addiction, the basic premise is to find the root causes for the addiction and then overcome them with specific suggestions so that the patient can then develop the mental state to resist falling back into temptation once again.
The overall success rate for hypnotherapy in alcohol and drug addiction is such that it is garnering new support from the medical community as a potent treatment. Today, hypnosis is becoming more successful in this field thanks to its direct approach in planting positive suggestions directly into the mind. When it is used with other types of treatments, it can increase the chances of a person overcoming their addictions and leading a normal, happier life as a result.

Hypnotherapy is not a magic wand. A person needs to be motivated themselves. They often say a person needs to be about a 7/10 motivated, to make the changes happen. If that is you, what are you waiting for?

If it’s not why not? Why are you not motivated to change for the better? Why are you holding back, denying yourself…fear perhaps…procrastination maybe…Well good news, all of these can be addressed in hypnotherapy, as part of the package.
